JapanLane policies

Updated October 29, 2026

Test store. JapanLane is being developed by Arrive Lane LLC for travelers visiting Japan. Live sales, supplier provisioning and automated eSIM delivery are not enabled in the test store. Test authorizations are not real purchases. These terms describe the intended service, with current limitations identified below. This draft must not be represented as a legal compliance certification.

1. Seller, contact and scope

JapanLane is a trading brand of Arrive Lane LLC, with business mailing address 418 Broadway Ste N, Albany, NY 12207, United States. These seller details were supplied by the operator on October 15, 2026; entity status and any assumed-name filing must be verified before launch. For pre-purchase questions, customer support, complaints and privacy requests, email support@japanlane.com. Any legally required telephone number and responsible representative must be confirmed before live sales.

For the present preview, use your authenticated account or private trip support conversation for order assistance and privacy requests. The Help Center provides general instructions. Do not send payment credentials, passwords, identity documents or eSIM activation codes through a public form. The support email is available to prospective customers and people without account access, including after account closure.

These policies cover retail purchases, accounts, the website, companion apps, support and business applications. Approved resellers also require a separate business agreement. Mandatory rights under applicable consumer, privacy and telecommunications law take priority over these terms. Supplier terms apply only when disclosed before purchase and cannot remove our own legal responsibilities.

2. Product information, compatibility and service limits

Before a live order, the plan page and final order review must identify the data allowance, destination coverage, price and currency, taxes and mandatory fees, validity period, installation deadline, activation trigger, expiration, delivery estimate, network technology, speed or fair-use limits, tethering rules, and top-up/reinstallation availability. A missing material condition must be resolved before purchase. Sample plans are illustrative and not verified live offers.

Unless the particular offer expressly includes calls, SMS or a telephone number, a JapanLane travel eSIM is data-only. Internet-based calling may work through compatible third-party apps, with their own terms. Do not rely on a data-only eSIM for emergency calling, public warning delivery or uninterrupted essential communications. Maintain an appropriate alternative.

Coverage and performance depend on local infrastructure, radio conditions, congestion, device settings, network maintenance and network operations. No speed, indoor coverage or uninterrupted connection is guaranteed beyond the advertised plan commitment and mandatory law. Any fair-use throttling or hotspot restriction must be stated for that plan, not introduced after purchase. Your home carrier may charge for roaming or calls on another SIM; review device settings and home-carrier charges separately.

Use a compatible, carrier-unlocked smartphone or tablet that supports eSIM and at least one of 4G LTE Band 18 or Band 26. Support for Band 1 alone, an EID, or an “Add eSIM” menu is not enough. Check the exact model number and regional variant against the manufacturer’s technical specifications before buying. Routers, computers, wearables and other equipment are not guaranteed to work.

The device must be lawful to use in Japan under the Radio Act and other applicable rules. Check its technical conformity (Giteki) status and any applicable exception for a device brought from overseas; overseas purchase alone does not establish eligibility. Do not install on a model JapanLane identifies as prohibited. Models identified as unsupported, not recommended or outside the operating guarantee are not eligible for the technical replacement programme; mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Install once, on the device you intend to use. An installed eSIM cannot be moved or transferred to another device. If you delete the eSIM profile, it cannot be reinstalled or re-enabled. Keep it installed during troubleshooting. A carrier configuration profile is different from the eSIM profile.

Use the QR code and settings supplied by JapanLane. Android may require manual APN settings for data or hotspot use; the Installation Guide gives the exact values. If automatic settings already provide data, no manual APN change is needed. For iPhone connection problems, check Settings → General → VPN & Device Management for an old carrier configuration profile. Remove only a confirmed conflicting carrier configuration profile; do not remove a work/school management profile without authorization, and never delete the Japan travel eSIM.

Validity starts on the day of first mobile data communication in Japan, counted as day 1 in Japan Standard Time (JST, UTC+9). Installation alone is not that first data communication. Service ends at 00:00 JST on the day after the final plan day, rather than after a rolling number of 24-hour periods. Example: first data on November 1 at 20:00 JST on a 7-day plan means service ends November 8 at 00:00 JST.

Each eSIM has a specific commence-use deadline, stated as a calendar date in JST in your delivery details. If you have not used data by the end of that date, that date is treated as day 1 anyway and the validity period runs from it. Check the deadline against your travel dates before installation; contact JapanLane if it is missing or unsuitable. A delayed status display does not extend validity, and temporary connectivity after expiry gives no right to continued use.

These plans cannot be topped up or extended. Buy a new plan if you need more service. Hotspot use remains subject to the purchased plan’s allowance and settings. Device or installation restrictions do not remove mandatory rights relating to a faulty or misdescribed service.

Plans described as Unlimited provide unlimited on-device data during the purchased validity period. Unlimited data does not mean guaranteed speed or uninterrupted connectivity.

Connection quality varies with coverage, congestion, location, device compatibility and network conditions. Network management measures may also apply to protect service availability, prevent unauthorized or harmful activity, respond to emergencies, or meet legal requirements.

Under the applicable fair-use conditions, usage over the preceding three days may be assessed and speeds may be reduced where usage is considered excessive. Internal assessment thresholds are not publicly disclosed. The indicative speed during a fair-use restriction is approximately 1 Mbps; actual speeds may vary.

Hotspot and tethering allowances are stated separately for each plan. Once that allowance is exceeded, hotspot speeds may be reduced to 128 kbps.

Unauthorized traffic redistribution, unauthorized commercial resale, and illegal or harmful network activity are prohibited. This does not prohibit activities expressly permitted under a JapanLane business-partner agreement.

If a restriction affects your service, contact JapanLane at support@japanlane.com for assistance. These conditions do not limit your mandatory consumer rights.

3. Ordering, prices, payment and delivery

You may purchase as a guest or use an individual account. Business applications are separate from retail checkout. You must have legal capacity to contract, provide accurate purchaser and end-user information, and have authority to use the payment method. An authorized adult must purchase for a minor where required. Creating an account is not consent to marketing.

Select a plan and choose Checkout, or add it to the basket. On the checkout page, review and correct your details, quantity and total, confirm that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked, and acknowledge the displayed policy version. An order reference or payment authorization alone is not confirmation of eSIM delivery. We must confirm acceptance and provide the applicable terms and order summary in a form you can save. If we cannot accept or deliver an order, we will explain and release an authorization or refund a captured payment as legally required, except where handling funds is restricted by law.

The current catalog uses USD. The final review must show the complete amount payable and any tax or fee before you commit. Your bank may independently charge currency conversion or foreign transaction fees. We do not add an undisclosed gateway fee. If a material price or product error is discovered, we will contact you; we will not substitute a higher price or different plan without your agreement.

Card details are entered on the configured payment provider's secure checkout. JapanLane does not request or store full card numbers or security codes in its application database. The current implemented provider flow is Stripe; actual payment methods depend on provider configuration, browser, device, country and eligibility. Apple Pay and Google Pay logos are not a promise that a wallet is available. Chase and Samsung Pay are not currently integrated. Provider branding may appear on the secure payment page.

An authorization can temporarily reserve funds. Capture, settlement, refunds and release of a bank hold are distinct events. We must verify payment evidence server-side and applicable compliance approval before fulfillment. A customer-facing success page alone cannot prove payment. We will not ask you to send card information by email or chat.

Live delivery will use the secure account/private-trip channel and any delivery email stated at checkout. The promised delivery time must be displayed before purchase. If there is a material delay, we will offer the choices required by applicable law, including cancellation/refund where required. Check the delivery address and contact support if the expected delivery is missing. Do not place a second order solely because a confirmation page did not load.

The preview currently has no connected supplier issuance or automated delivery. Staff preparation statuses are not proof of payment, network activation or successful fulfillment. There are no automatic subscriptions or renewals in the current purchase flow; any future recurring product requires separate clear terms and appropriate authorization.

4. Cancellation, faults and refunds

This policy preserves mandatory cancellation, non-delivery, misdescription, faulty-service and payment-dispute rights. We do not impose a blanket no-refunds rule. Supplier reimbursement decisions do not by themselves determine your rights against the seller. Statutory rights take priority over optional commercial refund criteria.

Change of mind before your eSIM is issued: you may cancel for any reason until we issue your eSIM (send its QR code or activation details), including when you chose to receive it shortly before your trip. Request cancellation through your account/private trip or support@japanlane.com. We refund the full amount paid to the original payment method; there is no cancellation fee. If only an authorization exists, we will request its release; bank processing time varies.

After your eSIM is issued: at checkout you ask us to issue your eSIM now or on the date you chose, and acknowledge that change-of-mind cancellation ends once it has been issued, because the network supplier charges us for every issued eSIM. If you no longer need an issued eSIM that has never been installed or used, you may keep it for a later trip if its installation deadline allows, and we may offer store credit as a goodwill gesture. This does not affect your rights for missing, duplicate, defective, materially misdescribed or undeliverable service: we will investigate and provide an appropriate remedy, which may include correction, replacement, a proportionate reduction or a full refund, without any fee. Where the law that protects you gives further rights, those rights apply. We will not require store credit in place of a cash refund you are legally entitled to receive.

Report connectivity problems as soon as reasonably possible so support can troubleshoot during the trip. Provide the order reference, device model, approximate time/location and relevant error text. Redact unrelated personal information from screenshots. Do not send your card number, security code or full activation QR. Failure to report within an arbitrary internal period does not remove a statutory claim.

An automatic rule may approve an eligible request when enabled and all required evidence is verified. Missing evidence or a failed automatic criterion sends the request to staff; it is not a final denial. A reviewer must consider mandatory rights, the actual service supplied and any sanctions restrictions. We will explain a denial and allow you to ask for another review. You retain access to your payment provider and relevant consumer authorities.

An approved monetary refund normally returns to the original payment method, unless law permits another method and you expressly agree or the original method cannot receive it. We will not refund to an unrelated person or unverified bank account. We initiate refunds within the applicable legal deadline; your provider controls posting time. No fixed bank-processing guarantee is made. We do not charge any fee for cancellations or refunds. Original-method refund execution requires configured Stripe credentials; only verified provider completion is recorded as a completed monetary refund.

For mixed cash/credit payments, cash and credit components are reconciled separately, preserving the legally required cash refund and restoring any eligible spent credit. We prevent duplicate reimbursement and reconcile disputes fairly. Opening a chargeback is not itself misuse, and does not waive your rights.

5. Store credit

Store credit is optional and must be an informed choice. Before issue, disclose its amount, currency, purchasing owner, redemption limitations and any lawful expiry. Refund credit must not be presented as an equivalent substitute for a required monetary refund without your valid choice. We must not apply an undisclosed expiry, inactivity fee or forfeiture term.

The app records issuance, reservation, spending and release separately to prevent duplicate use. Credit may be tied to the individual or business that paid, and its private code must be protected. The current credit-only purchase flow handles one plan at a time. Any combination with cash must be supported and explained before being offered. Credit does not bypass screening, order limits or account verification.

Before live issuance, the seller must settle the legal classification of refund credit, purchased value and promotional credit, along with applicable gift-certificate, cash-redemption and unclaimed-property obligations. No expiry term is approved in this draft. A business closure or account suspension does not automatically extinguish a lawful balance or claim.

6. Regional consumer protections

United States and New York: advertising, pricing and material product statements must be accurate. Nothing here excludes applicable state consumer protections, lawful card-dispute rights or required remedies. The seller must confirm applicable tax collection, resale registrations and brand/assumed-name requirements before trading.

Japan: where Japanese distance-selling or telecommunications rules apply, we must provide the required seller, price, payment, delivery and cancellation disclosures and an order confirmation screen that allows correction. We do not describe Japan's mail-order rules as a universal cooling-off entitlement. Applicable service cancellation and telecommunications protections require review of the actual reseller/supplier arrangement. If Japanese-language disclosures are legally required or necessary for the market being served, they must be supplied before launch.

EEA and UK: where mandatory distance-contract rules apply, consumers may have a 14-day withdrawal period for a service contract. A travel eSIM must not automatically be treated as downloadable digital content merely because a QR code is delivered. Starting service early, any proportionate charge and loss of withdrawal rights require the legally appropriate disclosure, express request/consent and acknowledgement for the correctly classified contract. A general policy checkbox is insufficient, so checkout asks for a separate, recorded request to issue the eSIM now or on a chosen date and acknowledgement that change-of-mind cancellation ends once it is issued. Until it is issued, you can cancel for a full refund as described in section 4. This wording must be legally reviewed before we actively sell in these markets. Any legally required online withdrawal function and durable confirmation must be provided for covered sales.

Other markets: local mandatory rights may apply depending on the offer, customer's location and transaction. A choice of New York law cannot deprive a consumer of protections that cannot lawfully be waived. We will assess new target markets before actively selling there. This draft does not claim that every country's rules apply to every traveler.

7. Acceptable use and suspension

Use the service lawfully and consistently with the disclosed plan. Do not commit fraud, distribute malware, attack networks, infringe others' rights, share stolen payment credentials, resell through an unauthorized account or deliberately bypass security and lawful geographic restrictions. Tethering, commercial use and traffic limits follow the specific disclosed plan, not an unstated general prohibition.

We may hold, restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary for security, suspected fraud, legal compliance or a material breach. Where lawful and practicable, we will explain the reason and provide a review route. Urgent protective action may occur first. We will not confiscate refunds or credit solely because an account is suspended; lawful remedies and restrictions on funds still apply.

8. Sanctions and geographic restrictions

As a US-operated business we must assess applicable US sanctions. OFAC is the default screening scope, with official EU, UK and Japan sources available for case-specific checks; legal applicability depends on the transaction, parties, payment flow and jurisdiction. A name-list result does not resolve ownership/control, sectoral restrictions, prohibited services, licensing or exemptions. We may request proportionate clarification and refer a possible match to a trained human reviewer.

Our configured commercial access policy currently blocks Russia, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, Belarus, Syria, and the Crimea/Sevastopol, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This is a business-risk policy, not a claim that every resident or transaction involving these places is legally sanctioned. Nationality alone is not a reliable determination of a prohibition. Location data can be inaccurate; a person incorrectly blocked may request review through support@japanlane.com. Do not attempt technical evasion.

The local screening service is designed to download official data daily at 23:59 America/New_York. That schedule does not mean the lists update only once daily and is not a safe harbor. Failed, stale or incomplete feeds must not produce an automatic clearance. Before live operation, material official changes must trigger a risk-appropriate response, including holds and rescreening where required.

Where a transaction is prohibited, funds may require blocking, rejection, regulatory reporting or other controlled handling. We cannot promise an immediate ordinary refund in every sanctions case. Decisions are recorded; disclosure may be limited where required by law. We do not describe the business as a regulated bank or promise a universal financial-institution AML/KYC process merely because screening is performed.

9. Privacy: data and purposes

Arrive Lane LLC is the privacy contact/controller for its own sales and support processing. You may write to the business mailing address in section 1, marked Privacy Request; privacy requests may also be sent to support@japanlane.com. Payment providers, network operators and some other recipients may act as independent controllers for their own functions. A reseller may have separate responsibilities toward its customers; those roles must be agreed before sharing data.

We process purchaser/end-user name and email; account credentials and profile details; business applications and assigned account information; order plans, quantities, amounts and status; payment references and verified outcomes; support correspondence; policy acknowledgement/version; screening queries, candidates, reviewer decisions and official-source evidence; trusted approximate country/region; and staff access/security records. Passwords are hashed. Activation and usage data will be processed only when the supplier connection is introduced and its scope is disclosed.

Stripe collects card and billing information on hosted checkout. Depending on configuration, JapanLane may receive billing/contact fields or payment metadata needed for disputes and reconciliation; not all provider-collected fields are necessarily stored by JapanLane. Do not assume the payment provider has the same privacy practices as us. Check its notice at checkout.

Email verification uses a short-lived code sent to your account address. Google/Gmail may process the destination address and verification message when the configured Gmail sender is authorized. Codes are used for inbox verification, not advertising. Referrals link the inviter and purchasing account to discount and qualification records; sharing through your device email/text composer does not upload your contacts to JapanLane.

Data comes from you, an authorized purchasing business, your device/browser, trusted hosting/payment services, and official screening sources. We use it to process orders, provide access and support, prevent fraud, enforce lawful restrictions, review compliance, keep required records and manage requests. We do not need your precise GPS position for the current visitor dashboard. Avoid sending sensitive information that is not necessary to resolve a request.

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, relevant purposes are assessed separately: contract steps/performance for ordering and service; applicable legal obligations for required records; legitimate interests, subject to a balancing assessment, for proportionate security and some service administration; and consent where required for optional tracking/marketing. Screening under a non-EU law is not automatically an EU legal-obligation basis. We must identify an appropriate basis for each applicable jurisdiction and handle criminal-offence or other specially protected data only with the required authority and safeguards.

10. Privacy: recipients, transfers and security

Access is limited to authorized staff and approved providers with a need for the relevant information, such as hosting (currently Cloudflare), payment processing (currently the Stripe integration), the AI provider used for optional AI-assisted support answers (see section 13) when that feature is switched on, future contracted eSIM/network suppliers, professional advisers and lawful authorities. Suppliers are not yet connected. Providers must be evaluated and bound by appropriate terms. We do not sell customer information or use the present visitor tool for cross-site targeted advertising. Any new sharing model requires review and updated notices before introduction.

The business is US-based; provider infrastructure and network operations may process information in other countries. Exact hosting locations, provider subprocessors and supplier processing countries must be verified and disclosed as required before launch. Where a restricted transfer is subject to EEA, UK or Japanese rules, we must establish the applicable legal mechanism and necessary notices/consent or safeguards. We do not claim certification under an adequacy framework, execute transfer clauses by publishing this notice, or treat general policy acceptance as blanket transfer consent.

The app provides scoped staff permissions, field masking, purpose-recorded reveals/exports, MFA support and audit records. Encryption and backup arrangements depend on hosting and configuration; the local development customer database is not encrypted by the app. Production MFA enrollment and security validation remain required. No system can guarantee absolute security. We will assess incidents, preserve evidence and make legally required notices. We do not promise automatic deletion, immutable logs or an independent security certification that has not been implemented.

11. Retention and privacy rights

We retain information only as justified for the stated purpose, applicable law, dispute limitation periods and documented holds. Account/support data should be deleted or de-identified when no longer needed; financial and sanctions records can require longer preservation. The present global setting has no approved category schedule and automatic deletion is disabled. Before live sales, the operator must approve category-specific periods, triggers, backup treatment and secure disposal, rather than keep all information indefinitely.

Visitor records have a 90-day application retention window and are removed during ingestion of subsequent visitor events. This is not a guaranteed daily purge when there are no new events; hosting/security logs and backups have separate schedules that must be verified. Required sanctions transaction records may be subject to a ten-year US recordkeeping requirement; this does not justify retaining every customer field for ten years. Retention exceptions and release of holds must be documented.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and applicable opt-out/appeal rights. Use your account/private trip privacy-request route or support@japanlane.com. We verify identity proportionately, allow authorized agents as required, explain lawful limitations and respond within the applicable legal period. Deletion may be limited by necessary records or a hold. We do not charge for ordinary lawful requests except where legally permitted. Exercising rights will not unlawfully disadvantage you.

Where EEA/UK rules apply, you may complain to your competent supervisory authority. Where Japanese APPI applies, available disclosure, correction and cessation rights depend on the statutory conditions. US state privacy rights depend on each law's scope and thresholds; we do not claim automatic CCPA applicability. We must add required channels, notices and opt-out signal handling if the relevant obligations are triggered. Contact data and complaint routes must remain accessible when an account is closed.

12. Cookies, session storage, visitor measurement and marketing

Necessary session/security technologies support authentication, fraud prevention and service operation. The storefront may use session storage for basket and visit identifiers. The current visitor tool measures approximate sessions, page activity and country/region using trusted hosting information, not verified unique people. The app does not store full IP addresses or precise coordinates in visitor-event rows, but hosting/payment/security providers may process IP addresses separately. Session identifiers and location combinations can still be personal or pseudonymous information; they are not guaranteed anonymous.

The current visitor script respects Do Not Track. That signal is not a substitute for consent where optional device storage/access or analytics requires it. Before enabling such measurement in a jurisdiction requiring consent, provide prior opt-in, an equally accessible refusal, withdrawal controls and an accurate technology register, or disable the optional tool. No consent-management platform is claimed to be operating in this preview. Essential service access must not depend on optional marketing consent.

Marketing email requires the legal permissions applicable to the recipient and message. Where sent, it must identify the sender, provide the required mailing address and a working unsubscribe route, and honor opt-outs within the applicable deadline. Operational/security messages may still be sent where permitted. SMS, calls, advertising pixels and new analytics providers require separate review before use. We do not infer advertising consent from checkout acknowledgement.

13. Accounts, children, AI support and accessibility

Protect your login and private trip link, report suspected compromise and keep contact information current. Private links can provide order access; share them only with authorized people. Closure requests are reviewed separately from legal retention. Staff access remains subject to role and assigned-record permissions; an employee is not entitled to all customer information simply because they work here.

The service is intended for adults arranging travel and authorized adult purchasers, not directed to children under 13. Do not submit a child's personal information unnecessarily. If we learn that information was collected unlawfully from a child, we will restrict processing, investigate and take the legally required action. Other age/parental-consent requirements are assessed where applicable; an adults-only statement alone does not resolve all children's privacy duties.

Automated support returns answers that our staff approved in advance. If we switch on optional AI-assisted answers, your question is sent to the AI provider we have selected (OpenAI, Google or Anthropic) with email addresses, links, long numbers and order numbers removed, only so that it can choose one of our approved answers; the provider is not given your name, email address or order details, and the full conversation remains in the JapanLane support record. Do not enter secrets or unnecessary sensitive information. AI support cannot approve refunds, clear sanctions matches, certify a device or promise delivery. Request human review for complaints, uncertain answers, payment problems or compliance decisions.

We aim to make ordering and support accessible across supported devices. If a page or control prevents access, contact support for an accessible alternative. A web app or native wrapper does not guarantee compatibility with every device from the last eight years; supported operating-system versions and required browser features must be stated accurately in the app listing and installation guide.

14. Business accounts and subvendors

Business status and wholesale access require approval and a separate agreement identifying the contracting parties, prices, taxes, credit/payment terms, permitted territories, brand usage and customer-service responsibilities. An application is not authorization to resell. We may assign plans, order/quantity limits and record access; a vendor may see only its own authorized information.

The vendor must supply accurate end-customer data through approved channels, provide required notices and have a valid basis to share it. Ownership, payer and end-user reviews may be required. The agreement must allocate privacy/controller/processor roles, security, incident reporting, deletion, audit cooperation and downstream obligations. A generic promise to comply with all law does not replace that agreement. No subvendor receives a right to export our wider customer database.

Refunds and credit follow the actual purchasing party and mandatory rights. The vendor must explain who sold the product to the end customer and who handles complaints; approval does not authorize false affiliation or misleading coverage claims. Suspension and termination do not cancel outstanding consumer remedies or legally required record preservation.

15. Complaints, responsibility, governing law and changes

Submit a complaint with the order reference and the remedy requested through the secure support route or published contact. We investigate reasonably, explain the result and permit escalation to a different authorized reviewer. We must publish support hours and achievable service response targets before launch; no unverified 24-hour support promise is made. You may use competent regulators, payment-dispute mechanisms and courts without first accepting store credit or waiving a statutory right.

We remain responsible for commitments and legal duties applicable to us. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including fraud or other non-excludable conduct. This draft introduces no automatic cap on all liability, mandatory arbitration, class-action waiver or shortened statutory claim period. Connectivity limits do not excuse misrepresentation or denial of mandatory remedies.

New York law governs only to the extent lawfully permitted, preserving mandatory consumer protections and competent forums otherwise available to you. Any exclusive venue or business liability terms require the appropriate separately reviewed agreement. Where a provision is unenforceable, the remainder applies only to the extent lawful.

Translations of these policies are provided for convenience. If a translation differs from this English version, the English version governs to the extent the law allows. This does not limit consumer rights that apply where you live.

We will date and version material revisions and make the applicable order terms available. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights or replace the terms accepted for a prior purchase without a lawful basis. Acknowledgement records the policy version and time; it is not a waiver of privacy/consumer rights, marketing consent, or a legally sufficient immediate-service waiver. Production effectiveness remains pending the remaining seller/contact disclosures, supplier validation and operational launch checks.
